Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup of chocolate chips add more or chocolate chunks for a really decadent brownie

Instructions

  • Preheat your pizza oven to approximately 375°F (190°C). Depending on your pizza oven’s setup, this might take around 15-30 minutes. Ensure the temperature is consistent.
  • Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar and vanilla until well combined.
  • Let the mixture cool for 15 minutes, then add the eggs.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
  • If using, fold in the chocolate chips and nuts.
  • Pour the delicious chocolate mixture into the preheated and greased cast-iron skillet. Spread evenly.
  • Place the skillet in the pizza oven. Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. The edges should be set, and the center should still be slightly gooey for a fudgy brownie texture.
  • Remove the skillet from the oven and let the brownies cool slightly for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This allows them to set properly.
  • Cut into wedges and serve warm. For an extra treat, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Notes

Pizza oven temperature extremes will vary to check your brownies during cooking time. Adjust baking time to suit your oven, bearing in mind if you like yours gooey or cake-like.
