Equipment

  • Large non-stick skillet
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Cutting board
  • Chef’s knife
  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Serving plate or platter

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning or 1 packet
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 head romaine or butter lettuce leaves separated and washed
  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes halved
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • ¼ cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cook the turkey: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until soft. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds more.
  • Season the meat: Add ground turkey to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if needed.
  • Add taco seasoning: Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Let simmer for 3–4 minutes until thickened. Taste and adjust salt or pepper as needed.
  • Prep the toppings: While the turkey simmers, prep your lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and cheese.
  • Assemble: Lay out lettuce leaves on a plate. Spoon in the taco meat, then top with cherry tomatoes, cheese, avocado, and a drizzle of sour cream or Greek yogurt.
  • Serve: Serve immediately while the meat is hot and the lettuce is still crisp.

Notes

You can use iceberg lettuce for a crunchier wrap or butter lettuce for a softer bite.
Taco seasoning packets vary in salt adjust as needed if using homemade.
For spicier wraps, add a dash of hot sauce or red pepper flakes to the meat.
