  • Endless flavor variations
  • Make-ahead friendly

Tools & Equipment

To create perfectly shaped and delicious hot chocolate bombs, you’ll need a few essential tools and equipment. Here’s a list to help you get started:

  • Silicone Chocolate Bomb Mold
  • Microwave-Safe Bowl
  • Spoon or Pastry Brush
  • Refrigerator or Freezer
  • Piping Bag (Optional)
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Decorating Tools (Optional)

Cooking Time

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Chill Time: 20–30 minutes
Total Time: 45–50 minutes
Yield: 3–4 hot chocolate bombs

    Ingredients

    1 cup (168 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
    6 tablespoons hot chocolate mix
    3 tablespoons mini marshmallows

    Instructions

    1. Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave at 50% power for 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
    2. Using a spoon or a pastry brush, coat the inside of each cavity of the silicone mold with a layer of melted chocolate. Make sure to cover the entire surface evenly.
Place the mold in the refrigerator for about 5-10 minutes to allow the chocolate to set.
    3. Apply a second layer of melted chocolate to ensure the shells are sturdy, then refrigerate again until completely set.
    4. Carefully remove the chocolate shells from the mold.
    5. Fill half of the shells with 1 tablespoon of hot chocolate mix and a few mini marshmallows.
    6. Warm a plate in the microwave for about 30 seconds.
    7. Take an empty chocolate shell and place the edge on the warm plate to slightly melt it.
    8. Quickly place the melted edge on top of a filled shell to seal the two halves together. Repeat with the remaining shells.
    9. Optionally, you can drizzle some extra melted chocolate over the seams to reinforce the seal and decorate with sprinkles if desired.

    To Serve

    • Place a hot chocolate bomb in a mug.
    • Pour steaming hot milk over the bomb and watch it melt, releasing the hot chocolate mix and marshmallows.
    • Stir well and enjoy a delicious cup of hot chocolate!

Pro Tips for Perfect Hot Chocolate Bombs

    • If shells crack, use melted chocolate as edible glue.
    • Use couverture or baking chocolate for smoother melting.
    • Always apply two chocolate layers for durability.
    • Let shells fully chill before unmolding.
    • Avoid any moisture, water will seize chocolate.
