A Dutch oven is a heavy-duty pot that’s perfect for indoor as opposed to a bare cast iron camp Dutch oven that is used for outdoor cooking.
They’re made from durable cast iron with a high gloss enamel baked onto the cast iron, which is great at distributing heat evenly, making them perfect for baking desserts like peach cobbler.

Sliced Peaches
Peaches are packed with vitamins and minerals like vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. They’re also naturally sweet, making them the perfect addition to any dessert.
Bisquick Mix
The Bisquick mix is a versatile base for when you are camping or just in a hurry in the kitchen.
Made up of ingredients that you normally have to measure out like flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar, ingredients.
Milk
Milk makes all recipes creamier than using water as the liquid, and you get the benefit of calcium, vitamin D, and protein.
Sugar
Sugar adds sweetness to the cobbler, but it also helps to balance out the tartness of the peaches. In moderation, sugar can be enjoyed as part of a healthy diet.
Brown Sugar
Brown sugar has a richer flavor than white sugar, and it also adds moisture to baked goods, making them more tender.
Cinnamon

Nutmeg

By using these ingredients in our recipe, we’re not only creating a delicious dessert but also incorporating some beneficial nutrients into our diet. Plus, using Bisquick mix makes the recipe quick and easy to prepare, so you can spend more time enjoying the great outdoors and less time cooking.
Substitutions
If you don’t have all of the ingredients on hand or if you’re looking to make some substitutions, there are a few options that will still result in a delicious Dutch oven peach cobbler:
Canned Peaches
Canned peaches can be used if you don’t have fresh peaches on hand. Just make sure to drain off any excess liquid before adding them to the cobbler.
Gluten-Free Bisquick Mix
If you need to make the cobbler gluten-free, you can use a gluten-free Bisquick mix instead of the regular one. This will still give you a similar texture and flavor.
Almond Milk
Need a non-dairy substitute? I’ve got you covered I use almond milk but you can use your choice of any milk.
Honey or maple syrup
Honey or maple syrup instead of brown sugar. Just keep in mind that this will change the flavor of the cobbler slightly.
Coconut Oil
Another non-dairy option is to use coconut oil instead. You will still have a rich flavor, but it will also add a hint of coconut flavor to the cobbler.
With these substitutions, you can still make a delicious Dutch oven peach cobbler that fits your dietary needs or what’s available in your pantry. Just make sure to adjust the quantities as needed and keep an eye on the cobbler as it bakes to ensure that it comes out perfectly.

Why is my peach cobbler soggy?
Peach cobbler is likely soggy because there was too much liquid in the recipe. The peaches were too juicy, the juice from canned peaches was not drained properly, or the dessert was not left to cool and thicken.
Can you overcook cobbler?
Yes, you can overcook cobbler. Follow the temperature and time to cook instructions carefully. Every oven is different, so watch the cobbler so it doesn’t dry out or burn.
Is it better to use fresh, frozen, or canned peaches for cobbler?
Fresh peaches that are in season are the best. But don’t let unavailability stop you frozen and canned peaches work just as well.
