Nest Homeware was founded by Matt Cavallaro in 2013. He has a love of materials that appear to last forever. Just like cast iron and is still the principal designer for the company based in Providence, RI.
The Nest Homeware 3.5 cast iron Dutch oven looks, unlike your average Dutch oven. It has a bronze-gold finish that is achieved by hand machining from the craftsmen in Pennsylvania, where each cast iron piece is also cast.
The CNC-machined smoother surfaces provide a smoother nonstick property, and the surfaces will darken with use.
The pieces are hand-finished in Providence, RI, with a double layer of organic flaxseed seasoning for even more durability.
The handles of the Dutch ovens emulate the look of cherry tree branches and are practical and functional.
The same handle is on the lid, but for me, the lid shines with the self-basting spikes on the underside of the Nest Homeware cast iron lids.
Not all cast iron Dutch ovens come with a self-basting lid that allows the rich nutrients and flavorsome goodness to drip evenly back into the oven. Love Love Love it.
During the design process, Matt takes advantage of producing lighter cast iron pieces that are generally made.
There are more than Dutch ovens at Nest Homeware. You will find a range of cast iron pieces of cookware along with other cast iron accessories.
Check out the Nest Homeware website to view the extensive range of unique cast iron cookware.

How to Find Out Where Cookware is Made
Finding the location of a product’s manufacturing can be challenging. But it is not impossible! Below are a few tips to help you locate the exact factory where a given item was made.
1. The Company Website
Larger companies will list the ‘Country of Origin’ or ‘Made in’ locations on their corporate websites. Many specialized manufacturers make this information publicly available within their product listings. The above Demeyere product listing clearly states that the cookware is made in Belgium.
2. Labels and Tags
Look for locally-made labels or tags on the product itself or its packaging. Such as in Italy, France, the United States, Canada, Mexico, etc. This may make it easier to find out where a product was made based on its country of origin.
3. Embossing or Company Logo
Many manufacturers list where the product was made directly onto the item itself.
4. Contact the Company Directly
If you cannot determine the origin of a given item through any other means, contacting the company’s customer service team may yield more information.
They should be able to tell you exactly where the product was made and may even be able to give you a direct link to that information on their website.
5. Awards and Certifications
Check for local certifications or awards on the product itself. Just as many manufacturers choose to denote where their products were made, others may opt to highlight other kinds of company achievements.
For example, environmental certification by Fair Trade USA or Green America. While these can be a bit harder to identify than simply looking for a “Made in” label, these can be reasonable indications of where the product was made.
6. Contact the Manufacturer Directly
There are instances where you cannot get information from the ‘Brand’ itself as a 3rd party may manufacture the product.
If you cannot determine the country of origin of a given item through any other means, contacting the company’s customer service team and asking for the manufacturer’s contact details may yield more information.
The 3rd party should be able to tell you exactly where the product was made and may even give you a direct link to that information from their website.
