My article deep dives into Lodge Manufacturing and its products: Lodge Dutch Oven Review: Seasoned & Enamel Cast Iron

Who Owns Lodge?

Lodge Manufacturing is a privately owned company and is still owned by the family of Joseph Lodge. Members of the family, to this day, actively work in various positions within the company, including the manufacturing processes. Mike Otterman is currently the CEO and president of Lodge Manufacturing.

Lodge acquired a high-end startup brand known as Finex in 2002. The Finex brand is now privy to the extensive resources and many decades of casting experience that Lodge offers. Finex operates under the umbrella of the iconic American brand Lodge.

Check out some well-known cast iron cookware brands like Lodge, Finex, The Field Company, Smithey, and Lancaster Cast Iron in my in-depth article on what Cast Iron Cookware is made in the USA.

Find Out Where Cookware is Made

Finding the location of a product’s manufacturing can be challenging. But it is not impossible! Below are a few tips to help you locate the exact factory where a given item was made.

1. Start With the Company Website

Lodge website features
Find out where Lodge products are made in the features tab of each product

Most larger companies will list their locations on their corporate websites. Many specialized manufacturers make this information publicly available within their product listings. The listing Staub cocotte product listing below clearly states that the cast iron is made in France.

2. Labels and Tags

Lodge packaging

Look for locally-made labels or tags on the product itself or its packaging. Such as in the United States, Canada, Mexico, etc. This may make it easier to find out where a product was made based on its country of origin.

3. Embossing

Lodge's cookware embossing
Lodge’s Embossing Identification Base & Handle

5. Awards and Certifications

Check for local certifications or awards on the product itself. Just as many manufacturers choose to denote where their products were made, others may opt to highlight other kinds of company achievements.

For example, environmental certification by Fair Trade USA or Green America. While these can be a bit harder to identify than simply looking for a “Made in” label, these can be good indications of where the product was made.

6. Contact the Company Directly

If you cannot determine the origin of a given item through any other means, contacting the company’s customer service team may yield more information.

They should be able to tell you exactly where the product was made and may even be able to give you a direct link to that information on their website.
