Definition of Made in the USA

100% Made in the USA – made from materials sourced in the USA. Manufacturing and assembly are carried out in the USA.

Made in the USA – made from globally and/or locally sourced materials. Manufacturing, and/or assembly are carried out in the USA.

How to Find Out Where Cookware is Made

Finding the location of a product’s manufacturing can be challenging. But it is not impossible! Below are a few tips to help you locate the exact factory where a given item was made.

1. Start With the Company Website

Larger companies will list the ‘Country of Origin’ or ‘Made in’ locations on their corporate websites. Many specialized manufacturers make this information publicly available within their product listings. The above Demeyere product listing clearly states that the cookware is made in Belgium.

2. Labels and Tags

Look for locally-made labels or tags on the product itself or on its packaging. Such as in Italy, France, the United States, Canada, Mexico, etc. This may make it easier to find out where a product was made based on its country of origin.

3. Embossing or Company Logo

Demeyere Industry Fry Pan Handle Logo

Many manufacturers choose to list where the product was made directly onto the item itself.

4. Contact the Company Directly

If you are unable to determine the origin of a given item through any other means, contacting the company’s customer service team may yield more information.

They should be able to tell you exactly where the product was made, and may even be able to give you a direct link to that information on their website.

Demeyere Contact Details

The best way to reach Demeyere is by emailing them. Below are the contact details for both email and direct mail.

5. Awards and Certifications

Check for local certifications or awards on the product itself. Just as many manufacturers choose to denote where their products were made, others may opt to highlight other kinds of company achievements.

For example environmental certification by an organization like Fair Trade USA or Green America. While these can be a bit harder to identify than simply looking for a “Made in” label, these can be good indications of where the product was made.

6. Contact the Manufacturer Directly

There are instances where you cannot get information from the ‘Brand’ itself as there a 3rd party may manufacture the product.

If you are unable to determine the country of origin of a given item through any other means, contacting the company’s customer service team and asking for the manufacturer’s contact details may yield more information.

The 3rd party should be able to tell you exactly where the product was made, and may even be able to give you a direct link to that information from their own website.

Who Owns Demeyere?

The German company Zwilling J. A. Henckels purchased Staub in March 2008.

Demeyere: The Brand

This European cookware brand manufactures is stainless steel cookware in its factory in Herentals, located near Antwerp, since the 1980s. The original factory was located in Deurne, near Antwerp.

The Demeyere history started in Belgium in 1908 when a metal worker, Emmanuel Demeyere founded Demeyere. Starting with metal housewares production was carried out by Emmanuel, just 17, and his four employees.

In 1919 Emmanuel joined with his brother Willem to grow the Demeyere brand. In 1920 they were commissioned by Antwerp’s Bell Telephone company to produce capacitor boxes. Moving through the years their business survived WW11 by manufacturing soup pots for the starving.

By 1946 Emmanuel, his son Maurice and Maurice’s son Emmanuel took advantage of the growing trend in homes to have a centralized kitchen. Cookware at that time was not great to look at comprising mostly banged-up tarnished aluminum.

Using their engineering and metal working skill and ever-increasing technology exceptional looking, hygienic, strong durable stainless steel cookware that looks great was born.

Skilled descendants including Maurits, Emmanuel’s son, have produced innovative cookware pieces throughout the years. In 2008 Christophe, Maurit’s son coordinated the acquisition of Demeyere to Zilling J.A. Henckels.

Family when employees join the Demeyere family business they are loyal and make their careers at Demeyer.
