ByMichelle Updated onNovember 30, 2024

I have been using Staub cookware, bakeware, and their accessories for years. I am constantly answering the question ‘where is Staub made?’ Staubs enamel cast iron is made in France while its other products are made in China.

In this article, you will learn more about where Staub cast iron cookware, ceramic cookware, bakeware, and its accessories are made.

Where Staub Cookware is Made

Staub cast iron cookware began manufacture in France in 1974, the French company was bought out by Zwilling J. A. Henckels in 2008. This is when confusion about where the Staub products were manufactured began.

Staub Enameled Cast Iron Cookware

Currently, all of Staub’s cast-iron cookware including its core product the la cocotte (French oven) with its innovative black matte enamel interior that emulates bare cast iron. Along with cast iron bakeware, cast iron accessories are manufactured in Merville France.

Staub Ceramic Products

Staub’s ceramic cookware, ceramic bakeware, tableware, and accessories are made in China, using Staub’s strict manufacturing policies and quality control.

Find Out Where Cookware is Made

Finding the location of a product’s manufacturing can be challenging. But it is not impossible! Below are a few tips to help you locate the exact factory where a given item was made.

1. Start With the Company Website

Staub product description
Country of Origin in Staub Website Product Description

Most larger companies will list their locations on their corporate websites. Many specialized manufacturers make this information publicly available within their product listings. The Staub cocotte product listing below clearly states that the enameled cast iron is made in France.

2. Labels and Tags

Staub labels

Look for locally-made labels or tags on the product itself or on its packaging. Such as in the United States, Canada, Mexico, etc. This may make it easier to find out where a product was made based on its country of origin.

3. Embossing

Staub embossing

Many manufacturers list where the product was made directly onto the item itself.

4. Contact the Manufacturer Directly

If you cannot determine the origin of a given item through any other means, contacting the company’s customer service team may yield more information.

They should be able to tell you exactly where the product was made, and may even be able to give you a direct link to that information on their website.

Contact Information for Staub (Zwilling J. A. Henckels)

5. Awards and Certifications

Check for local certifications or awards on the product itself. Just as many manufacturers choose to denote where their products were made, others may opt to highlight other kinds of company achievements.

For example environmental certification by an organization like Fair Trade USA or Green America. While these can be a bit harder to identify than simply looking for a “Made in” label, these can be good indications of where the product was made.

6. Contact the Company Directly

If you cannot determine the origin of a given item through any other means, contacting the company’s customer service team may yield more information.

They should be able to tell you exactly where the product was made, and may even be able to give you a direct link to that information on their website.
